Today, the kids and I woke up, had breakfast, and played with Lincoln Logs. Or rather, they scattered them all around the floor and then asked me to build a house with them, and then proceeded to tear it down as I was building it. Oh, what fun. Afterwards, we cleaned up all the toys and tried to eliminate some excess toys (because everyday I want to get rid of ALL.OF.OUR.STUFF.) My 3-year old did a fine job at helping so the rest of the day has been a “take it easy” kind of day. The weather is nasty out and we are expecting to get some more winter weather tonight – or so the weather people say.
Well, to say the least, I’ve decided to go full force into 2018 with setting and keeping some serious intentions. Last year (actually the last 5-ish years) have been a real doozy. Lots (and lots and lots) of ups and downs which have amounted to a great feeling of being lost, unmotivated, sometimes depressed, sometimes a huge lacking of self confidence and so forth. I’m sure I’ve mentioned all of that before. I really didn’t want this blog to just be a “vent” blog. Anyways, I’m extremely tired of living that way. I’m not sure, well actually I know, that all my days aren’t going to be up days like today while I write this, but if I can just manage to keep getting through the tough days or the not-so-great days, then the important thing is that I keep going – as long as I keep going.
I wanted to write a post about Christmas Gift ideas this year, but seeing how it’s already December, this may not be very useful. Unless, of course, you do a bunch of shopping online, like I do, and therefore, you still have things to shop for. Ideally, I wanted to feature some local shops to support, which could still be helpful if you have a similar place wherever you are located, maybe.
We have a somewhat large family so it was important to me to be very mindful of the people, things, and money we needed to spend/save. I decided to do some DIY projects and to do some more memory or action centered gifts for the kids. NOT JUST TOYS.
October has proven to be a busy month. Lots of school activities, home activities, job activities and all the prepping for Halloween. A crap ton of work, but most of it has been pretty good work, nothing too shabby.
I’ve also made sure to set time aside to figure out ways or to practice ways to improve myself and I am making some final decisions on schooling and what my goals are. I want to fulfill myself and my need to help others, but also while maintaining the “stay at home mom” hands on approach for my kiddos.
The other day, I read this quote “The first step in crafting a life you want is to get rid of everything you don’t.” — Joshua Becker, Becoming Minimalist
Great motto. I also tend to take things very literal. I’m a serious person, which is weird because my favorite thing is to laugh, make jokes, and not be serious. I’m definitely still trying to find a balance between who I am and who I wish I were and making those align, which includes learning how to lighten up.
Hey there folks,
How are you people doing? It’s the 4th of July as I write this post and my-oh-my, you sure have come a long way America, but I must say, you certainly have a lot more work to do. I’ve thought a lot lately, much about things to blog about, but I haven’t been able to sit down a get it out. I’ve started to keep a little notebook with ideas so that I can revisit things later when I have time to sit > think > type. However, sometimes that backfires and I literally forget to write down my little idea. BUMMER.
